The Reason

Growing up, I was labeled dumb. And it stuck with me—longer than I care to admit.

I never imagined I’d be here. A Montessori teacher. A school owner. A father. A guide for other parents.

But by the time I turned 18, I made a decision: I was going to figure out my brain so I could help other kids understand theirs.

That’s what started all of this.

I don’t talk about it much. Sometimes during tours, I share bits and pieces—but this deserves to be said plainly:

The Ramsey Oaks Montessori School isn’t just a name change. It’s a full-circle moment.

This school started as a vision—rooted in the belief that no child should ever feel the way I did growing up. Misunderstood. Overlooked. Boxed in. We wanted to build something different—a school where kids are seen for who they really are. Where their strengths are nurtured, not dismissed.

The oak represents strength. Ramsey is our family name. Not as a flex, but as a foundation. Because this isn’t just a school—it’s legacy. A living, breathing extension of who we are, and what we stand for.

I may be the heart behind the mission, but none of this would exist without Nichelle. She’s the rock. The steady force behind the scenes who keeps this dream rooted when the days get long and the weight gets heavy. We built this together—with love, purpose, and a calling that goes far beyond academics.

And here’s something people don’t talk about enough: Ages 2.5 to 6 are not a stepping stone.

This is where everything begins. Independence. Confidence. Emotional regulation. Identity. But too often, this age group is underestimated. Our mission is to change that.

This school was started for our son, Adonis. And it’s for every single child who walks through our doors. We don’t do things the traditional way, and we don’t believe in cookie-cutter education. We believe in whole-child development, real community, and honest conversations—even the hard ones.
